Technology Evolution

Technology evolution is the  history when one technology is replaced by another technology (or by better set of technologies). When I say the evolution of technology I’m not just talking about earlier information technology that started in the early 3000B.C. according to a website I viewed Open Book Project

Electro mechanical age can be defined as the time between 1830 and 1940 because these are beginning of telecommunication. The telegraph was created in 1835 by Morse code. The telephone (one of the popular forms of communication ever) was created by Alexander Graham Bell in 1876. However, he was not the first inventor to come up with the idea of telephone. Antonio Meucci, an Italian immigrant began developing the design of a talking telegraph or telephone in 1849.

The first radio developed by Guglielmo Marconi in 1894. All of these were extremely crucial emerging technologies that led to big advances in the information technology field. The first TV was invented in 1926 by John Logie Baird successfully transmitted the first TV picture, after years of work, with his mechanical system.

The first computer also known as (ENIAC) was invented by John Presper Eckert and John Mauchly at the University of Pennsylvania and began construction in 1943 and was not completed until 1946.It occupied about 1,800 square feet and used about 18,000 vacuum tubes, weighing almost 50 tons.

The first cell phone was discovered in 1973 by a man named Martin Cooper, the handheld phone weighed 1.15 kg and measures 23cm long, 13 cm deep and 4.45 cm wide.

The first camera was invented approximately 1816 by Nicéphore Niépce. However, the digital camera was invented in 1975 by Steve Sasson; the device was never meant to be mass produced, however. The whole device weighed over 8 pounds and was as large as a toaster of the time; the digital camera took 23 seconds to take a photograph and only produced images that were a tenth of a modern pixel. It then took 23 seconds for the image to process on to a cassette tape.

The internet (ARPANET adopted TCP/IP) was invented in 1983 by Robert Elliot Kahn and Vint Cerf, from there researchers began to assemble the “network of networks” that became the modern Internet. The online world then took on a more recognizable form in 1990, when computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web. In Dec 18, 2013.

The evolution of technology started long ago but the past few decades were really where the evolution just take off and we have come far from that. In our generation, the evolution is changes fast, you can’t see the exact same things as the past months even weeks. I can go on and on about the revolution technology, because the next big thing going to be just around the corner.
